I just had the most incredible girls trip to New York City with three of the greatest travel buddies I know! I am so lucky to have a great group of women around me who love to travel and this marks our 5th annual fall girls trip. We’ve been to Asheville, NC, Blue Ridge, GA, Frye Island, ME, Riviera Maya Mexico and this year took us to the big apple. We usually have 10+ girls traveling with us which is so much fun as you generally have groups who can break off and do things on their own, but then you all come together at night to talk, laugh, sometimes cry and just create lasting memories forever. This year for New York we opted for a smaller group, and in a city that can require a lot of logistics, it was a great decision.
We wanted the ultimate girly experience in New York City with things our husbands wouldn’t necessarily be thrilled to do and if I do say so myself – we delivered! Here are all the places we went:
- We stayed at 1 Hotels Central Park which was a perfect location, just south of central park and only a block or two from subway stations that could get us anywhere we wanted in a short ride. It was charming, so comfy and had the best breakfast at the lobby restaurant (which also had great cocktails later in the day!)
- We went to not one but two Broadway shows: &Juliet and Cabaret. Now you might be thinking, wow these have very different vibes and you are not wrong but WOW both were just incredible in their own way. And Juliet was joyful and fun and you can’t help but sing along with a smile on your face. Cabaret was iconic, thought provoking and just beautiful in it’s own way – I’m still talking about what happened on that stage!
- We ate ALL the good food. We ate dinner at Keens Steakhouse, Cipriani (downtown) and the Lobster House. The steak and sides at Keens were to die for! The wagu sliders at Lobster House were life changing – that is not an exaggeration. The homemade pasta and dessert spread (we got 5 desserts) including the homemade vanilla gelato were insanely good. We also had lunch at Rubirosa in SOHO and it was the best pizza I’ve ever eaten. Last but not least was Acadia, a Mediterranean restaurant with an incredible lunch spread – we stayed for 2.5 hours!
- We took a subway down to SOHO one day to go shopping and then walked the Brooklyn Bridge (pictured above) to take in the beautiful sites. We went to the Brooklyn bookstore – The Ripped Bodice which is an all-romance bookstore and it absolutely delivered. We ended up having to check a bag on the way back because we bought close to 20+ books between the four of us!
- On our first day we opted for a spa day to really start the vacation right and set the tone. We went to the incredible AIRE, Ancient Baths New York. We got to spend an hour in the ancient bath room (pools, hot tubs, cold plunge, salt baths, whirlpools, saunas and more) followed by massages. The facilities, massages and staff were amazing and I highly recommend everyone to start their New York visit this way.
- If you thought I was done with the girly agenda you would be wrong. We also hit up the 305 Fitness studio and took a cardio dance class. Holy cow this was insane – 6000 steps in a 45 minute dance class. We had the BEST time in this judgement free zone of shaking our rear ends and getting what felt like free therapy from the incredible instructor!
- Last but not least we hit up the Temple Bar in SOHO before dinner one night. It had such a great vibe, amazing cocktails and the nicest bartenders around.
I’m already thinking about how we can top this incredible New York City Girls Trip next year!
